The Spy, The Telepath, And The Assassin (Spy × Family)

Welcome back everyone! Glad to have you here etcetera, etcetera, etcetera....

In a moment of all honesty, I haven't gotten too terribly far into this manga because I cannot currently fund my reading addiction. This greatly comedic story, and now anime, is not only illustrated, but also written, by one, Tatsuya Endo.

Now clearly the guy knows what he is doing because this manga was only released in 2019. From this point, only three years ago and it already has its own anime; which by the way, had been extremely successful.

The story starts off with a spy who goes by the nickname 'Midnight'. He goes through different faces and aliases like we go through toilet paper. His next mission has been to build a family and get his child into the same school as another child who's father hold great influence over the opposing country.

Little does Mr. Midnight know, the child he chose to be his daughter, is a telepath! This child, Anya Forger, has been listening to her adoptive fathers thoughts since first sight. Her telepathy is the reason she was chosen from all the kids at the orphanage, by answering his questions with the ones he thought of to begin with!

Now that midnight has a daughter to get into the school, he meets a young woman, Yor Briar, who is in need of... you guessed it, a husband!

So a family built, that is teetering daily on the edge of treason, lies and endless humor is living as a normal mixed family with in the foreign country of Ostania.

This manga made me laugh, out loud and embarrassingly in public. I find that the illustrations are prefect for the moods that are set with the dictation and writing style. As one might assume, because he who wrote the story, also drew the pictures to match!

As you might be able to see from the picture above, where Yor and Loid (Midnight's cover name), are clinking glasses, on the bottle it says 5.5 Million Copies! So, imagine that within just three years you make a book that sells 5.5 Million Copies world wide.

Another few things I find enjoyable about the story is how well ever spontaneous little adventure is written in there. From simply attending a school event to suddenly a farm gone wild! It has very smooth transitions and in the later chapters more characters are introduced of course, but they suit the story very well for its continuous progress.

You might have noticed that this dog has been in a few pictures, I won't tell you any more than this dog and little Anya are very similar! Also this is about where I had to stop reading, sad as it is because the later chapters are great, I hope to grab some of those hard copies in the very near future!
